S2 Week 3
Natalie: This week we were able to make some great progress on the attachment of the passive knee to the adjustable TT. Cameron, Chris and I spent a few hours in the machine shop working on assembly as well as consulting Dr. Hekman and Wes on the issue of connecting the "legs" to our motor. After meeting with them we have decided upon the most simple solution in terms of machining and have put in an order for our gear box and key for the shaft.
Fig 1. The drill press was used to create the holes needed to fasten the knee to the TT.
Mohammed: Brad and I went to work in fixing a issue with the motor processing the given code in increments instead of in bulk. Thankfully a rotation was enabled but due to some handicaps built into the controller we were left with a range of -200 to 200 and was not completely in acceptable state due the requirement of 12 revolutions. In order to bypass most of the hassle and simplify the process and make it functional we chose to seek at a driver with a functioning USB connection for direct commands that will allow us to manipulated the motor with LabVIEW without the stutter in its revolution.
