Week 11 Update

This week we were able to cut the crutches into more appropriately sized pieces that can be used in the first prototype iteration. It will be beneficial to get every member of our team trained on the machining equipment so that we can delegate manufacturing tasks more efficiently.

Brad:  this week i diagnosed as to why the motor would not respond to any inputs, only to find out the the driver that we had purchased did not deliver the proper continuous amperage per phase that the motor needed to advance in steps. from the end of the week, i had found an alternative that would solve this problem to allow us to move forward.

A first draft of a bracket and gear design was drafted in solidworks to change the direction of power transmission for the leg.

Mohammed: Due to the unpredictable reaction of the motor and driver relationship we started to consider some alternatives such as the Exoskeleton Gen. 1 from Maxon. Which we found to be beyond our budget by six times the current budget so that was shut down pretty quickly. We ended up agreeing on sticking with the current plan with our stepper motor and ordered this week a Stepper motor controller to deliverable the necessary amperage.
