S2 Week 5

Chris: This week was mainly focused on creating a prototype that could be used for experimental purposes in conjunction with the new gearbox we had ordered. The final draft of the leg was also worked on to a lesser extent due to issues with the bit sizes needed for the keyway, but we were able to fully assemble the right leg to a point where it can now be attached once the 14 mm bit is received in shop. We also worked on improving the existing bracket and brainstorming small details about its attachment points and how the rear attachment will look, which is something we will work on during class time.

Mohammed: At the moment a new Gearbox is being delivered to us with a lower ratio of 5 to 1 as the gearbox with ratio of 50 to 1 was overwhelming the motor and decreased the speed. Luckily the new gearbox was from the same company and same model type so changing the physical placement on the body wouldn't be hindered in any extreme way. The Gearbox needs to be tested for speed before initiating it into the model, but once we have it functioning we will be on to testing the full series for stress testing. Due to the motor not being altered we hope to initiate the test of the Gearbox immediately this week.
