Week 3 Update: Chris

Chris’ Blog update

This week’s progress began last Wednesday with the addition of various expectations with the team and the expansion of existing ideas for our three topics. Stability in walking was an idea that we expanded upon during and after class as well. During the weekend I continued to do research o materials that can be used for different aspects of the project. I did not look into specific materials, rather which materials have good strength to weight ratios and are biocompatible with different parts of the body (depending on what we ended up choosing as our final concept later in the week). Another area I researched was different ways of stabilizing a persons gait. There were many different examples I found from therapy to brain stimulation that all seemed very interesting, but I am not sure how relevant they will end up being for the project as a whole. Our group then had a brainstorm session for the third and final topic that we would develop ideas for, and that was ‘Promotes proper muscles growth’. We then spent a lot of time discussing and compiling our ~40 ideas for each of the three topics, went over them in depth, decided on 9 total ideas, and went through the plusses and minuses of each of them in order to determine a final strategy we could use for the purpose of completing our task we had been given by the client, and thus fulfilling the need statement.
